Lexington Kentucky Real Estate | Versailles KY Homes | Georgetown Houses | REMAX | REALTOR

Versailles Kentucky City CouncilIn a report by The Lexington-Herald in Kentucky, the Versailles City Council is withdrawing their proposal for attempting to rezone property that is currently classified for commercial use, and make it agricultural.

The property is commonly referred to as the Rubloff Property, consists of approximately 23 acres and is owned by Rubloff Holding Group LLC an Illinois based company. The property located on US 60 and Marsailles Road (near the US 60 Bypass). Rubloff purchased the property in 2001 .

During their meeting the council voted 6 to 0 against the ordinance. This was after a lawsuit was filed by the current real estate owner against the Versailles Kentucky City Council and Woodford County Planning Commission which cited multiple defenses which including an ordinance which states that no property can be deemed agricultural that is below 30 acres and that the real estate is within the Urban Service Boundary.

Part of the problem has been complaints from neighbors and the surrounding community about the unkempt maintenance and appearance of the property. Last year in 2006, the property was officially deemed as “blighted” by the Versailles Kentucky City Council by an unanimous vote.

The current owner hopes to revitalize the site partly because of the nearby commercial real estate development known as Versailles Center and proposes a modern shopping center w/ a grocery store, a movie theater, apartments as well as office buildings.

Hopefully the vision of the current Versailles Kentucky real estate property owner can be realized, and turn what amounts as an eyesore for the community, into something that would be more beneficial for all.
