The Lexington Herald-Leader had an article today about The Continental Inn. Its currently under demolition - to the cheers of some, and the concerns of others.
The Continental Inn was located at New Circle Road and Eastland Parkway. It was on built on the very outskirts, at that time, of Lexington Kentucky during the 1960s.
Today, the 10 acre real estate on which The Continental Inn once was located, is now under question as to what will be taking its place?
Various rumors have floated around as to what will be coming in - everything from a casino to a small subdivision of large lot single family homes.
The real estate company Sperry Van Ness that is handling the sale of the property for the owners, and have stated that they just hope that something comes in to fill the space.
The property has an estimated value of $9.75 million and is located close to the hot spot of Hamburg Place, and nearby commercial and residential areas.
One interesting bit of trivia for The Continental Inn: It was the location where film star Lee Majors learned how to drive a semi-truck in the back parking lot for the movie Steel in 1979.
